Stone coffee and side tables are often sculptural pieces in travertine, marble or onyx: plinths, drums, pedestals and low slabs. They are chosen as much for form as function.
But they are used every day for mugs, wine glasses, snacks and candles. Travertine pieces with open grain collect crumbs and spills, and marble tops develop rings.
Film keeps them looking like design pieces, not well-used furniture.

- Coffee rings etch. Coffee is mildly acidic and can dull marble if a mug sits long enough.
- Plant pots stain. Water seeping under a pot can leave a ring in porous stone.
- Candles. Wax and scented oils are much easier to lift off film than out of stone.
