Splashback protection
A full-height stone splashback sits right in the firing line of the cooktop. Oil splatter, pasta sauce and lemon spray all hit it. The film keeps them off the stone.
Why splashbacks mark
Splashbacks rarely get wiped as often as benchtops. Splatter dries on, and on a porous stone like marble or travertine, oil has time to soak in and leave a darker patch behind the cooktop.
Tomato, citrus and vinegar splashes etch marble just as they do on a bench. Because the splashback is vertical and lit from above, those dull spots catch the light.
Splashback styles
Sydney kitchens increasingly run the benchtop stone straight up the wall, sometimes all the way to the rangehood or ceiling. Some even continue it along a window ledge or a shelf. It looks seamless and generous.
It also means stone is right in the splash zone of the cooktop, where oil, sauce and steam hit it every time you cook. On marble, travertine and limestone, that area usually shows wear first.
We cut the film neatly around power points, switches and rangehood details, and run it continuously from the benchtop so there is no gap in the protection.
