The answer
Most Emperador is polished, so the gloss film is the natural match and keeps the depth of the colour. For honed Emperador, satin keeps the soft look.

Dark or light
Emperador comes in two main shades. Emperador Dark is a deep chocolate brown with fine white and gold veins; Emperador Light is a softer caramel. Both have a web of veining that gives them a warm, traditional feel.
It is a favourite in hospitality, hotels and heritage-style homes, and it pairs well with brass, dark timber and green joinery. Those settings often mean bar service, cocktails and wine, which is where unprotected Emperador marks fastest.
Polished Emperador shows etching as dull, lighter patches against the glossy brown, most obviously under pendant lights.
