Terms & Privacy
The terms, and
what we do with your details.
One page, in plain English. The first half is how we work with you. The second half is what happens to the information you send us, which is less than you might expect.

Part one — Terms
These terms apply when you ask us for a quote and when we carry out work for you. They sit alongside your quote and invoice. If anything in your quote contradicts this page, the quote wins, because it describes your specific job.
We are Stone Shield Sydney, a stone protection film business operating across Greater Sydney.
01 Quotes and pricing
Quotes are free and carry no obligation. A quote is valid for 30 days unless it says otherwise.
We quote on the information you give us and on what we can see during the assessment. If the surface turns out to be materially different on the day, for example it is larger than described, or it has damage or a previous coating we could not see, we will stop, tell you, and give you a revised price. You are free to decline at that point and you will not be charged.
Prices include GST unless stated otherwise on the quote.
02 Booking, access and timing
You agree to give us safe and reasonable access to the surface at the agreed time, with the area cleared of belongings, appliances and anything else sitting on it.
Timeframes we give are estimates made in good faith. Most kitchen benchtops are finished in a few hours; larger or more complex jobs can take a full day.
If we arrive and cannot start through no fault of ours, for example nobody is there to let us in or the surface is not clear, we may charge a call-out fee. We will always tell you the amount before applying it.
03 The surface before we start
Please tell us about any previous sealer, coating, polish or repair applied to the stone. These affect how the film bonds and we may not be able to detect all of them by eye.
We inspect the surface before we begin and will point out any damage we find. Marks, etching, chips and cracks that were there before we started are not caused by us and are not our responsibility. Film is protection going forward, not a repair of what has already happened.
Stone is a natural material. Colour, veining and tone vary between slabs and across a single slab, and can change over time. That is the stone, not the film.
04 Payment
Payment terms, including any deposit, are set out on your quote and invoice. Your 13-year warranty starts once the invoice has been paid in full.
05 Cancelling or rescheduling
Let us know at least 24 hours before your booking if you need to move or cancel it and there is no charge. We will do the same for you. If we have to move your booking, we will offer you the next available time that suits you.
06 Warranty
Every installation comes with our 13-year warranty. What it covers, what it does not, and how to claim are set out in full on the warranty page.
07 Our responsibility and yours
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing on this page limits or removes those rights.
We are responsible for carrying out our work with due care and skill, and for the film performing as described. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential loss, or for damage caused by the things listed as exclusions on the warranty page.
These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales.
08 This website
The content here is general information about what we do. Photographs and videos show real work, but the appearance of any finish depends on your stone, your lighting and your space, so treat them as indicative rather than a guaranteed result.
We may update this site, including these terms, at any time. The date at the top of this page tells you when it last changed.
Part two — Privacy
We are a small business and we treat your details the way we would want ours treated. We handle personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
09 What we collect
Through the quote form on this site, we collect exactly five things, because that is all the form asks for:
- Your full name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Your suburb
- Anything you choose to write in the message box
If you call or email us instead, we collect whatever you tell us in that conversation. If we quote or carry out work, we also keep the job details, the address, and the invoice.
Please do not send payment card details, bank details or identity documents through the form. We will never ask for them that way.
10 Where your details go
When you submit the quote form, it is handled by Formspree, the service that processes form submissions for this site. Formspree passes your submission straight into our Gmail inbox, which is provided by Google. That is the whole path.
Those two services, Formspree and Google, are the only outside parties that touch your details, and they touch them only because they are the tools we use to run the business. Beyond them, your information stays inside Stone Shield Sydney.
We do not sell, rent or trade your details. We do not share them with other businesses for marketing. We do not add you to a mailing list. We use what you send us to reply to you, prepare your quote, arrange and carry out the work, and keep our own records.
Both services store data on servers that may be located outside Australia. That is normal for email and web services, and by sending us an enquiry you accept that your details are handled that way.
12 How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become jobs: around 12 months, then deleted.
- Job records: for the life of your 13-year warranty plus 12 months, so we can honour a claim.
- Invoices and tax records: five years, because the tax law requires it.
13 Seeing, correcting or deleting your details
Email us and ask. We will confirm it is you, then show you what we hold, correct anything wrong, or delete it. We will respond within 30 days.
The one limit: where we are required to keep a record for tax purposes, or need it to honour a warranty you may want to claim on, we will keep that record and tell you which one and why.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, tell us first and we will try to sort it out. If you are still not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

We would rather explain something twice than have you agree to something you are not sure about.
